Happy New Year!

Husband brought in the New Year at a party while Gumba slept, and I tried to sleep. Today Gumba had spaghetti for the first time. Check out the video and picture of him. We are so lucky he likes solid food, and takes to most things we give him. I don't think he even got especially dirty this time around. It was eat, and then straight into the bath though!

Gumba threw his first real tantrum today. I see his head strongness will benefit him (in the long run) but will give his father and I many headaches. I ended up doing the dishes as Gumba cried in the living room. I figure I shouldn't stand around and "support" the behavior.

I'll tell you all I'm having a hard time adjusting to the fact that Gumba can have regular people food. It isn't because I'm being all sentimental, it just seems strange. All of a sudden his menu has expanded and I have no idea what to give him. I'd better think fast though, he's starting to pitch fits when we feed him because he wants to feed himself. Unfortunately for us all I have a freezer full of pureed food, and Gumba doesn't know how to use a spoon.

Have a Happy New Year everyone. I didn't make any resolutions. I figure if I have a hard time committing to 40 days and 40 nights for Lent, there's no way I'm making it a whole year!

I laughed my head off with your 40 days comment.

When our kids were little like that we had to feed them food they could feed themselves or they'd freak out. We did lots of quesadillas, sandwiches, frozen veggies like peas and carrots, and bagels they could dip in yogurt, and I'd make pasta salad with small noodles. Our kids' fav condiments as toddlers were ketchup and balsamic vinegar. I got a really good pizza cutter and just cut everything up with the pizza cutter. Since you are Alaskan you will probably just get an ulu knife.
my beginning eaters loved mashed potatoes and also pancakes smeared with applesauce.

Did you know you can make your own yogurt? It's cheaper than the organic yogurt and you don't have to worry about your child eating tons of sugar but a little bit of hassle.

Toss that pureed food into his spaghetti or just coat his pasta noodles with it if he will eat then like tha. If it's fruit you can use it as an oil substitute when you bake.

Thanks for all of the suggestions, I can use all you have. I'm "stuck" as far as food goes. Great idea about the pancakes, that will be a must! If anymore come to mind, toss them my way. I think we both have similar goals as far as what kinds of foods we want our kids to eat.

2009 was a very busy year at your household. Lots of first times for our little big man AND his parents. Happy New Year to all of you!!

Whoa... I didn't realize we were at this point already!!! I'm making noodles tonight! Brij really likes Ramen noodles with some veggies mixed in. I really like the suggestion to mix in some purees.
